Smile Whitening

Your wedding is coming up and you want your smile to be its brightest. Or maybe you have an important speaking engagement. Whatever the reason, tooth bleaching isn't just for the movie stars, and it isn't just for one day. Discuss your situation with our team members, we will recommend what is best for you. For most people, the tray method is best.

Tray Method

Our dental team member will make impressions of your teeth to fabricate bleaching trays for you. The trays are custom made for your mouth and is lightweight so that it can be worn comfortably while you are awake or sleeping. Along with the trays, you'll receive the bleach- ing materials. You'll be given instructions on how to wear the trays. The active ingredient in most of the whitening agents is 10% carbamide peroxide, also known as urea peroxide; when water contacts this chemical, the release of hydrogen peroxide lightens the teeth. Over the next few weeks, the teeth will lighten.

Power Light Chairside Method

Everyone loves a bright, white smile. Power or chairside bleaching can dramatically whiten your smile in as little as one hour. But it is not for everyone. Yellowish hued teeth will probably bleach well, brownish colored teeth may bleach less well, and grayish-hued teeth may not bleach well at all. Likewise, bleaching may not enhance your smile if you have had bonding or tooth-colored fillings placed in your front teeth. The whitener will not effect the color of these materials, and they will stand out in your newly whitened smile.

During chairside bleaching, our team member will apply a protective gel to your gums and a shield to protect the oral soft tissues. A bleaching agent is then applied to the teeth, and a special light used to enhance the action of the agent.
